Made In the USA

Koontucky Maine Coons was established in 1984 with the purchase of my first Maine Coon Cat. Since that time we have dedicated our lives to the preservation, protection and improvement of Maine Coon breed. We are a longstanding MCBFA Breeder Member and CFA Cattery of Excellence. Breeding and showing these wonderful cats has been and continues to be our passion. Our cats are our family and live with us in our home. Their health and wellbeing is given every consideration.

In 1993, we were blessed to acquire RW SGC Coonceit Majerle of Koontucky OS from Judith Null (pictured above). He was "The World's Most perfect Cat!" He exemplifies the Maine Coon Cat standard both in type and temperament. In his first show, at four months and two days old, he was awarded six Best All Breed Kitten awards. He only attended four shows in 1994. Even with limited showing he was awarded the title of Supreme Grand Champion, Best Maine Coon Cat in the TICA Great Lakes Region, Second Best All Breed Cat in the Great Lakes Region and four "Best of The Best In Show" awards. Majerle has passed on his OUTSTANDING looks and temperament to his sons and daughters. Majerle lost his battle with fibro sarcoma on March 16, 2000 and is waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge. Words are not adequate to express our thanks to Judith Null for this once in a lifetime cat. We miss him desperately

.

From 1996 to 2009 Koontucky developed several new foundation lines from native New England breeding stock. We partnered with other breeders working with foundation lines to bring further diversity to the Maine Coon gene pool. We are very pleased that these lines can be found throughout the world. Over the next year we will be adding historical information about these cats to our website

Koontucky specializes in variations of silver. But we produce kittens of all colors, with the exception of solid white. We allow our kittens to go to their new families after twelve weeks of age. But we prefer they stay with their litter mates until they are sixteen weeks of age. At sixteen weeks they are fully weaned, confident, socialized and vaccinated.

Our kittens are raised on a natural raw meat diet. Please carefully read Our Diet pages. Any sudden change from a raw diet will cause digestive upset. Please have the necessary ingredients at home BEFORE you come to pick up your kitten. Our diet is easy to make and the ingredients are easy to buy. All the guess work is taken out of it for you. Our kittens will also transition easily to a premium grain free cat food, such as Orijen, Honest Kitchen or Earthborn cat food. Our kittens are placed with a written sales contract, veterinary certificate and a health guarantee. We will provide a pedigree at the time of sale. However, we furnish registration papers for pet kittens only with written confirmation of neuter/spay from a licensed veterinarian.

We are dedicated to health testing. We screen our cats for Hip Dysplasia, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Utilizing both DNA testing and the MSU team of board certified cardiologists. Our cattery is certified FeLV and FIV negative.
